All visitors and new members are highly encouraged to participate in our free one-hour orientation. This introductory class is designed to give participants a basic overview of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and teaches fundamental skills needed to enter into our beginning classes.

Members may participate in the orientation class as many times as they wish to become comfortable with the basics.

In the Johore Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi Program students learn the foundation of Brazilian jiu-jitsu: self defense, grappling and specific techniques such as joint locks and chokes. The gi is the uniform used to practice Brazilian jiu-jitsu and it consists of a kimono top, pants and level BJJ belt. Training with the gi offers the student a greater variety of submissions and holds on their opponent. The Johore Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi Program allows students to progress through belt ranks and compete as a member of the Johore BJJ Team, in in-house and external tournaments.

In the Johore Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No Gi Program, students learn the practice of Brazilian jiu-jitsu without the use of the gi uniform. This style of practicing is less technical, faster paced and more dynamic style of fighting. Students do not qualify for belt or stripe.
